On November 20, 2009, after months of hard work and preparation, our Under-14 boys and girls volleyball teams proudly accepted their medals of achievement in the Dhahran Intra-Kingdom Volleyball Tournament. The girl's team Coached by Mr. Chris Duester, the U-14 girls relied on both their athletic skills and unrelenting enthusiasm and spirit to take the Bronze Medal, a fantastic achievement for a well-deserving squad. These girls, along with Coach Duester, played with heart from the start and were an example to all teams of what can occur if you believe in yourselves and never quit. The boy's team In the U-14 boys division, the Stallions team, coached by Mr. Michael Moir, were focused and determined right from the start of the tourney. After losing a close first set in their first game, they went on to win 12 straight sets, winning the Gold Medal. Taking a one-point-at-a-time approach, the boys meticulously stuck to the fundamentals and let their talent take over, achieving the team goal they'd set prior to the tournament. The right spirit Both volleyball teams displayed sportsmanlike behavior, spirited enthusiasm, and strong athleticism. YIS can certainly be proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school, both on and off the court.
