New ISG Board Member is from Yanbu

On May 26th the International Schools Group Board of Trustees selected their newest member, Dr. Heather Vandevoorde, a parent at YIS.

Dr. Vandevoorde is a native of Maine, USA. She is married to a French citizen who is the Managing Director of Arab United Float Glass here in Yanbu. Together they have two daughters, Lolita and Jania, completing first grade in their first year at YIS. 

Dr. Vandevoorde moved to Yanbu from South Africa and has also lived in Luxembourg, France and the Dominican Republic. In her professional life she was the executive director of an international association of business consulting firms and has her Ph.D. in international business. She enjoys snorkeling in the Red Sea, reading and travelling.

In her first year as a YIS parent she served an active role on the Parent Advisory Council and on the committee developing YIS's long-range objectives as a part of the accreditation process through Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. This involved several weeks of meetings that extended into the evening, and Dr. Vandevoorde, as well as other dedicated parents and teachers, committed themselves to working through the process to create a meaningful set of objectives to guide our future.

The ISG Board is a hard-working group of professionals dedicated to maintaining and improving learning at all the schools in the District. We congratulate Dr. Vandevoorde on her appointment, but also thank her for her willingness to take on this demanding position for the benefit of YIS and all other ISG schools
