Projects and assignments from various classes are featured here.

Online classrooms

All of the students enrolled in Technology classes can now access their classroom on-line! They will be able to view assignment requirements and handouts, as well as take quizzes, turn in projects, add to a class glossary, and even e-chat with fellow classmates about topics of educational interest. Parents are invited to the online classroom by simply going to the yis classroom site, clicking on their child's class and signing in "As a Guest".

Student email accounts

All 5th grade and Middle School students can get email accounts they can access on our school computers through a web service called Gaggle Network. This provides safe, teacher-controlled email accounts for them. They can use their Gaggle accounts to receive and send mail, e-chat with friends and create blogs (web logs). If you'd like YIS to set up a Gaggle email account for you, please see Ms. T. in the Computer Lab.

We don't allow students to access other web-based email accounts such as hotmail, yahoo, or google at school because it places YIS in danger from viruses and because these sites invite spamming, often from inappropriate sources.

First Class email accounts

The IT Department is conducting a pilot program for Grade 9 through Grade 12: all students in these grade levels are offered FirstClass mail accounts for educational use only. Interested students have returned contracts with all conditions, signed by themselves and their parents.

To access FirstClass from anywhere in the world, just click on the button to your left.You can also download the new 8.0 client on your computer at home. You will find the link to this download when you go to the FirstClass page.
